Andorra

2) Grandvalira-Soldeu

Andorra is a current 'hotspot' for mountain biking with a whole load of riding - Grandvalira-Soldeu is a new BikePark in Andorra's largest ski area.

Nearest Airport: Vigo is about 2 1/2 hours away.

 Downhill  Beginner to Advanced
 Freeride  Intermediate
 Cable Car

 Gondola  YES
 Chairlift  YES
 Connected to  Vallnord

The Soldeu gondola and the Solana chairlift are the main lifts for the bikepark.

DOWNHILL
In the Grandvalira-Soldeu mountain bike area there are 13 'freeride' downhill trails of varying levels of difficulty, which offer a chance for all riders to improve. The lengths vary from 2.5km to 6km and descend from 2450m at the top of the Solana chairlift, to 1800m in the village of Soldeu. Access is via the Soldeu gondola and the Solana clutched chairlift. There are bike itineraries for all levels, such as the Verda track for beginners to the Slopestyle track for the most daring riders.

Very similar to Vallnord, the downhill routes vary between wide open, fast and dusty pisted runs that are graded easy.  There are 11 gravity assisted runs in total. There is one true freeride route which is the Roller Coaster trail.  It is a short trail made up of rollers, doubles, tabletops and wallrides.

CROSS-COUNTRY
If you buy the Andorra 5 day bike pass for 80 euros it allows you to ride Grandvalira-Soldeu and Vallnord on the same pass. Cross-country riding is difficult here as the terrain is so steep.

Whether you choose to ease the climbs by utilizing the lifts or take the full aerobic workout, Grandvalira-Soldeu has enough cross-country choice to keep you busy with 75 km of trails running between the Canillo, Soldeu and El Tarter sectors.  The terrain here is very steep so the riding is only suited to those with a hight level of fitness.

Hi, My boyfriend and I are hoping to do some downhill biking from 9-11 July. We were thinking of renting an apartment in Soldeu. Do you rent bikes? Do we buy lift passes from you too? How much for the three days? Also, do you know of any cheap apartments for rent or budget hotels? 8-12 July. Thanks, Angela
