DOWNHILL
The downhill on offer in Saalbach Hinterglemm takes a twist on
the more traditional race track course.
The built trails are really blurring the boundaries between true
downhill and freeride and with technical singletrack, northshore
sections and jumps all thrown into the mix, it makes for fun riding,
especially for those who are comfortable in the air. There are still
plenty of options to ride the natural path style descents down the
mountain from any of the five lifts.
CROSS-COUNTRY
There
are around 200 km of marked trails in the immediate area with tours
heading out much further also possible for the fittest enthusiasts. The
area has also set out many GPS tours that can be downloaded from home
or by calling into the BikenSoul shop. This allows you to get on with
the important business of riding and not worry about getting lost.
The tours are well marked out as blue (easy), red (intermediate) or
black (difficult) and there are also bike huts on the mountains which
carry basic tools, repair stands and sell refreshments.
FREERIDE
There
is plenty of freeriding available to keep everyone happy. The Adidas
freeride courses have multiple stunts and technical riding throughout
and include the Evil Eye northshore trail at the bottom.
The area is perhaps most famous for its freeride course in Hingerglemm,
where a huge pro invite freeride comp is held each year with some
massive lines and obstacles.
There is also an indoor park (open till 22.00) with dirt jumps, ramps
and a foam pit to dial in the tricks and a blue trail on the mountain
that is perfect to develop skills.
