France
11) Les Orres
Les Orres in the Haute Alpes is one of the most southerly French resorts and gets some great weather though the summer months.
The town is also near to Montgenevre, making these two resorts a mix during a riding holiday. Les Orres has 900 m of easily accessible vertical drop and is not as well known as its neighbour.
Even though Les Orres is in a prime location and the French National series uses this resort, it still remains a guarded secret by the locals.

DOWNHILL
In
two relatively short lifts you can climb 900 m giving a nice long black
run to take you all the way back down to 1650 from 2550m. There is also
a red trail heading down on a gentler grade from the top which can be
linked into the the BikePark. There are currently 4 trails in the park, one of each gradient.
CROSS-COUNTRY
The resort has concentrated its efforts around the lift accessed trails
providing many gentler blue and green routes down. So the best Cross
Country trails are found by taking the hiking maps and following some
of the contouring walks.
With fewer riders and walkers in Les Orres, most people are cool with
bikes using these trails; but be aware that you are sharing the trail.
FREERIDE
The BikePark has some well built 'northshore' areas of different
difficulties, a 4X line and various drops, gaps and wallrides spread
along the trails... there is a small dirt jump area with small to medium sized trails.
