Located in the Savoie region of the northern Alps and at the foot of the famous Galliber Pass, Valloire is a pretty resort made up of 17 traditional hamlets nestled in the Golden Valley.
Valloire provides something for most riders - apart from the black 'Michael Pascal' descent most of the trails are mellow and good fun for all levels. DOWNHILL
With 700m vertical descent to play with, the resort have designed
and built three permanent marked and managed Downhill courses.
Two gentler descents and a more difficult one designed by one of
France's most consistent World Cup racers over the last 10 years,
Michael Pascal. This route has a good mix of technicality and high
speed.
From the top of the same lift, for a more difficult ride, you can also take the black graded MichaelrnPascal trail with a more direct line back down to the mountain.
CROSS-COUNTRY
The four Cross Country trails are labelled as enduro routes at
Valloire, and they can be ridden with or without lift assistance.
These routes are ideal for less serious Cross Country riders who enjoy
trail riding but are not too concerned with clocking up serious
mileage.
Once these have been ridden there are freeride zones and the easier
downhill routes which can be tackled by intermediate trail riders.
More experienced riders will look to the wider region using the hiking
and biking map (on sale at the Tourist Office) which marks out some
more technical singletrack trails.
FREERIDE
Valloire has a small freeride area with four short trails made up of
northshore, jumps, berms and other obstacles.
These are suited to beginner to intermediated riders who should be able
to conquer most of the features after a few days riding. The rest of
the time can be spent playing on the descents and enduro trails.
