Germany

2) Bischofsmais

Bischofsmais lies between 700 and 1100 m in the Bavarian forest area.  Although tourism is a relatively recent arrival to this rural community, it now accommodates up to 350 000 visitors per year.

The big attraction is that the lifts are quick and efficient meaning you can spend all your time on your bike and not in the queues at the lift station.  Germany's jack of all trades, with cool trails through the Black Forest, some good Downhill and dirtjumps and the bikepark Geisskopf with amazing purpose built riding.

The nearest airport to Bischofsmais is Munich.

The trails in the bikepark run almost entirely through the woods alongside the pistes.  They are steep in places but on the whole are on a reasonable gradient.  There is a mix of the traditional natural descents with all their technical features and the new-school, smoother runs with berms and jumps.  The park leans heavily towards this element of riding, but is trying to maintain its traditional style trails alongside.

DOWNHILL
The Downhill courses are a mix of the Willingen-style, man made trails with lots of jumps and more traditional old school trails with dirt and roots.  The trail has options to take either style along its length.

FREERIDE
There are a number of trails in the park:
The Freeride trail, which is essentially a relaxed downhill course with jumps.
The northshore 'Evil Eye' trail and You Go First containing some tall and technical northshore features.

The lower slopes feature the two biker cross trails, the dual slalom and the small dirt area and learning areas.

CROSS-COUNTRY
Unfortunately there is no provision for Cross Country at Bikepark Geiskopf, but there are many miles of marked bike trails through the Bavarian forest, suitable for the less experienced rider.
