Scandinavia

Scandinavia's mountains might not be among the highest in Europe, but the Nordic countries have nevertheless carved out quite a niche in Europe's mountain biking scene thanks to some great trail riding over interesting, varied terrain through beautiful countryside.  The Scandinavian success story is proof that you do not really need huge mountains to build great trails.  Smaller mountains are easier to manage, lend themselves to great parks and, thanks to shorter lift times, allow riders to mix up their runs. Scandinavia contains great diversity as well, from the long, deep fjords of Norway, to the virgin wilderness of Sweden's vast parks and Arctic Levi in Finland.  Scandinavians are great outdoors people and know how to enjoy the tranquility and nature that surrounds them.  The more northerly resorts are also the best place to see the Northern Lights.
