Many of the riding spots and venues in the UK have been built and developed by riders themselves. Riders generally know what they want and the result of these self-built trails is that many of the better established venues have some great riding to offer which has challenged bikers over the years and is continually bringing new blood into the sport.

Recently however there has been a response from one of the major landowners in the country, the Forestry Commission, this has come as a result of both the successes of Wales and Scotland and the perceived benefits of mountain biking tourism.

Another aspect to remember is that mountain bikers do not have open access in UK.  Throughout the countryside and national parks mountain bikes are restricted to bridleways and public rights of way.

While UK's riders are wise to the trails on offer, the new trail centres, downhill venues and freeride spots have been perhaps overlooked by many riders on the continent.

The UK's summers are never too hot and not too cold - with England & Wales' winters are never to harsh, you can enjoy a great year round riding.  The trail centres they have been developing have been designed to be 'weatherproof' and still very rideable in all conditions. Scotland can become very rainy - having said that, the soil generally has a high mineral content and this allow for great riding in all weathers.
