7) San Remo
San Remo lies on the western Ligurian coast, and is known as, The Pearl of the Riviera of the Flowers. It is the main export of flowers that are cultivated on the hills in the botanical gardens.
The year round mild climate and low rainfall make great riding conditions. There is a wealth of singletrack to explore and being only a short drive from the Cote d'Azure, with cities Monaco, Nice and Cannes, this is a must do trip. Lying on the French Italian border, San Remo is a great base to enjoy the fantastic riding and the sights along the Riviera.
Nearest airport: Nice/Cote D'Azur, (47km), Galileo Galilei (211km).

With so many trails around the immediate area, San Remo is a great place to base yourself, whether you decide to stay in the city and ride the local routes or head across to the Cote d'Azur to sample some of the equally great trails there. You can expect dry and exposed rocky trails through shrub covered ground and lush wooded areas. This is a great place to trail ride or put in some winter downhill training. Uplifts in vans or shuttle buses can be arranged via private companies, (see argentinabike.com). Although there is no lift service, San Remo has a great climate, there is lots to see and do apart from riding, plus.....great riding.
DOWNHILL
San
Remo is world renowned for its descent which starts 16 km from San Remo
from Mont Bignone and ends in the small town of San Romolo where they
have many mountain road rallies around the fantastic windy mountain
roads. This is a serious trail over rocks from top to bottom with some
steeper switchback sections. New trails have been added to the area
and you will need a vehicle for any uplifts.
Into France and you have the proving ground of two multi world champions who live only a short distance from the Peille track. Add to this the old school Grundig classic course of Cap D'ail overlooking Monaco and you are starting to build a picture of a quality year round riding area.
Non of the runs here are easy, this is a spot for more experienced riders. The downhill track that finishes in San Romolo is a gem; hit it again and again but make sure you have a well maintained bike.
FREERIDE
There are no specific Freeride trails San Remo is simply natural
riding at it's best!
CROSS-COUNTRY
A
network of 2000 km of specially equipped itineraries for mountain
biking has been created within this cross-border region of France and
Italy. Most trails are of a reasonable technicality due to the
geology and terrain of the region, so not suited to beginners. The
scenery and views are second to none and it is a truly great experience
to ride overlooking the sea and finishing up at the beaches to cool
down and unwind after a hard day on the trails. With so many trails to
choose from, covering a large area, a local guide is recommended -
