1) Are
Although this is Sweden's most advanced resort in terms of infrastructure, it retains a mellow, friendly feel. The town is situated above the train station, making for easy access, and most accommodation is within close proximity to the lifts, and only a short walk from the station and centre.

Sweden's biggest and most varied resort with great infrastructure for all and one of the locations striving for the title of best European BikePark - Are has a good variety of bars, shops and restaurants and is perched along the Aresjon lake.
The nearest airport to Are is Trondheim in Norway (90 mins):

Are BikePark has been working hard to make an attractive resort, not only for riders from within their country, but also increasingly for people from all over Europe. In this, they have been very successful, mainly thanks to the number of gravity trails on offer, the excellent terrain in the park, the number of lifts, the impressive freeride set up and a great festival each year. As a result, Are is becoming recognised as one of the top resorts in Europe.
DOWNHILL
For the Downhill rider, The hiss has some great natural features with huge slabs of exposed rock interlaced into the trails.
Again the grading system allow all riders to have fun and feel suitably
challenged on the hill and there is even a world championship course
here dating from 1999 when Nico Vouillioz collected one of his 10 world
titles. Overall, Are is a great place to ride Downhill.
FREERIDE
Are
has all manner of Freeride trails, complete with a slopestyle area that
houses the yearly Mountain Mayhem festival and sets of dirt jumps.
Whilst the trails down the hill are incredible and do feature some
jumps and drops, the great natural terrain means they are best left
that way. There is also the machine built A line style Shimano Project
trail to keep the flow from top to bottom of the hill. Many hours and
days can be spent on the Fox slopestyle area dialling in drops,
wallrides and tricks.
CROSS-COUNTRY
The BikePark has been created to recreat the winter experience and is focused on lift fed riding.
As a result there are no Cross Country loops in the park but the
grading system and number of runs, from green through blue, red and
black mean that any Cross Country rider aspiring to some bike park fun
would find this an ideal resort. There are some great back country trails outside the park which require guiding or a good map.
Don't miss The Are Mountain Mayhem festival full of good people, good trails and good parties.

A great place to eat and drink is Broken which has a sign saying "If you think you have a reservation you're in the wrong place" which kind off sums it up pretty well.
If you want something a little more "cosmopolitan" then try Dahlboms right across the road from Broken.
